Sitting in the dark with only a small glow emanating from the computer screen. Idle conversation filled the air, by my thoughts were entirely elsewhere. I was pre-occupied, outstanded and amazed by what you've been through. By how you sat, strong and like everything was okay.
My thoughts came crashing back to reality when you said those words, "You're my hero." I heard you, but it felt foggy and unclear. I was unsure. Were you being serious? And not just messing with my head?
I finally asked if you were kidding, but much to my dismay, you claimed for it to be true.
I wonder if you realize how much that meant, how incredibly vulnerable I felt at that moment. Heart pounding and mind still swimming in disbelief, I said I wasn't going to cry. But truth be told, I was pretty damn close.
I didn't get a chance to say it, but, you are my hero too.
